Playlists, Nano & the last few Dorianna stops

Do you create playlists for your novels? I've started to, since both book blog tour companies asked for them, plus I've decided that it's fun. Below is the one I made for Dorianna. It really does mirror the novel trajectory. The Dorianna tour has been a full month, and there are only a few more stops. It's been fun, exhilarating and exhausting. I think I'll be ready for hibernation after it's over! What's the longest blog tour you've done? Which types of promo do you prefer? I'm also trying to do Nano. Are you? There's no way I'll "win" but it helps spur me on. Here are the last few Dorianna stops. The Rafflecopter's still open for two more days! So if you haven't yet entered for this motherlode of great ebooks, now's the time! (Scroll down to enter).

  1. I do think playlists can be fun, but it's rare for me to find the right music for what is going on in my stories. The longest blog tour I've done was one month. It went well, but I was exhausted at the end. LOL! Good luck with yours and NaNo!

  2. Ha! Cool picture of you and Jena. We almost always watch Idol. It's crazy, I don't watch TV all year but then come Idol season and I'm actually looking forward to it every week. About the only other show I ever watch every once in a blue moon is Jeopardy!

    1. The Idol kids this year were exceptionally talented. I've now seen Jena in person twice. Her voice is phenom.

  3. Playlists are really fun! I enjoy making them, though sometimes find them a little too random to share from my own work :) And a month on tour--I'm tired just thinking about it. Good luck with the last few stops!!

  4. There's usually certain bands whose albums fit, and always one song in particular that inspires, but I've never put together a playlist.
For my tours, one week solid followed by weeks of one or two stops works for me. I've never used a tour service though. Think it's worth it?

  5. No NaNo for me. I'm editing this month. I don't think it really matters if you win though. It's about writing more than you would have otherwise.

  6. Great playlist! I'm not one to usually use music as inspiration. I have enough noise in my head! :)

As for tours, the longest one I did was a month. That was a long one, and I don't think it produced any more sales than my week long ones. Yet I'm trying something new next year. A meandering tour that will space out over three months with one or two stops a week. Easier on me and keeps me in the public's eye longer, I hope!

    1. I'll be curious to know how that longer tour model of yours pays off. And yes, I am partial to these tunes for sure.

  7. An Idol after party? Cool! I'm not much for blog tours; I prefer joining hops and soft-selling. I guess it would be different if the hours and hours I spent promo-ing resulted in any sales - but they didn't. I've given up the craziness. I'm glad to hear you're doing your own NaNo. Good luck! :)

    1. Lexa, yup, I've managed to weasel my way into a bunch of after concert parties, most amazingly John McLaughlin's and Buddy Guy's... music karma. But I really think Jena Irene is a stellar talent.

  8. Whew! I love blog tours, but they take so much out of you. My longest one was a month long. Can you imagine? A month long of 3 or more features every day. (Minus Sundays.) I thought I was going to lose my mind, but amazingly, I survived. And learned. The next one was a week shorter and much better planned. Of course, from my observations, an amazingly themed bloghop can be quite effective too.
